What were Czechs or Czechoslovakians known as before World War I?

I have always been told I am of Czech descent, however I have read that Czechoslovakia was not even created until after WWI and that that land was part of the Austrian/Hungarian Empire. No one in my family lives in the Czech Republic since WWI, so what actually was my bloodline when they lived there? Austrian? Hungarian? Or am I really considered Czech?
