do it, and do it big! lots of people have small courthouse weddings with a huge formal ceremony later for lots of reasons. with the economy and jobs the way they are, not many people can afford a huge wedding right now. my brother and his (now ex) wife did this. *the ceremony had nothing to do with the divorce! lol* and it worked out perfectly. they were able to do exactly what they wanted. good luck to you, and don't worry about what people say. you deserve the wedding of your dreams just like anyone else!
