Has marriage become obsolete?

Is it really necessary in this modern world to get married? How come most people's goals seem to hurry up and get married but only later to become devoiced? I don't see the reason behind getting married. We live in a world were more and more kids are being raised by single parents if not by anyone at all outside of the institutions set up to take on orphans. I think part of the reason why I'm so depressed is because I've been taught from birth that I have to get married and have children. After my Dad died, my Mom left me when I was 14 to sleep around with other guys. Is another woman what I need in my life? Older women seem to want someone that will take care of them so they don't have to work. Younger girls just seem to want this guy with the most product in his hair with the largest . What's the point in joining this struggle to only be let down over and over again be the opposite ?
